Our Story

About KTCP

KTCP began as an idea by Joe and Sarah Royer, who purchased a radio tower in 2023. Jim Ellinger of Austin Airwaves identified it as suitable for full radio broadcasting — and when the FCC opened its first low-power FM filing window in over a decade, Bell County had exactly one available frequency.

KTCP competed for it against a Chicago-based group and won after a year-long process. The City of Temple provided the station's first studio space, and community members including JohnJohn Montelongo, Judy Morales, and Renee Boulette helped build the station from the ground up.

The station began streaming online 24/7 during Thanksgiving weekend 2025, and today broadcasts from 904 S. 5th Street, Temple, TX.
